6 months in Seoul and I begin to blog

It has been almost 6 months now and maybe, just maybe, we are beginning to have some sort of routine in place. Getting to know Seoul however remains a challenge. This city is massive! I am confident with the block around our apartment building but that would be about the extent of my navigation skills to date! And let's not talk about navigating whilst in a car just yet! A personal challenge to conquer over the next four years is to familiarise myself with the subway map enough so that I can work out in under 10 minutes what line to take to my destination (see subway map below)!

Top three adventures so far (with separate posts to follow) would be:
  1. The lantern festival in anticipation of Buddha's birthday. I have never seen so many happy people in one place).
  2. Hot springs in Mt Seroksan where no bathing suits were allowed (and this is the reason why this list of three is not called "highlights of korea").
  3. "Love match" spotting! I have become totally obsessed by Koreans in love who choose to wear the same sneakers and, sometimes, if you are truly, madly, deeply in love (i.e., you have not been married for almost 10 years and do not have three young children) you will go all out and wear matching outfits. Husband - shall we go shopping?
Some pictures of the neighbourhood (Cheongye Stream, very good coffee in a super cute cafe and seoul city lights).

Soul to Seoul: so far, so good...
